ActionShip AI Agent — What You Can Automate

Once you’ve linked Teapplix to an AI tool, you can use natural language to automate tasks that would otherwise require many clicks in the UI. This page covers what the agent can do and how to ask for it.

How It Works

You type a request in plain English in your AI chat (Claude, ChatGPT, OpenClaw, or your own agent). The agent reads your orders, calls the Teapplix API on your behalf, and reports back what it did. You stay in control — the agent tells you what it’s about to do and you can confirm or adjust.

For tasks that run repeatedly (e.g. rate-shopping every new order), you can ask the agent to create an automation rule that runs automatically on incoming orders without needing to prompt each time.

Rate Shopping

Rate shopping is one of the most valuable tasks to automate. Instead of manually selecting methods and clicking Rate Quote for each order, you can ask the agent to rate-shop all your open orders at once.

Basic rate shopping

Rate shop all my open orders using my “Ground Methods” rateshop method.

The agent will:

  1. Find all open orders in your queue
  2. Run rate quotes for each order using the RATESHOP method you named
  3. Apply the winning (cheapest) method to each order
  4. Report back which method won for each order

Rate shop and route to queues

If you use separate queues for different carriers or providers (see Rate Shopping — Using Queues), you can ask the agent to both rate-shop and route:

Rate shop all open orders using “Ground Methods”. Route UPS winners to the “Native UPS” queue and USPS winners to the “Native USPS” queue.

Or if you use both marketplace and native carrier accounts:

Rate shop my Amazon orders using “Ground Methods”. If the marketplace rate wins, route to the “Amazon Labels” queue. If my native rate wins, route to “Native Ground” queue.

Compare across profiles

If you have multiple shipping profiles with different carrier accounts or warehouse locations:

Rate shop order ABC-12345 using “Ground Methods” across profiles “East Warehouse” and “West Warehouse”. Pick the cheapest overall.

Tips for prompting rate shop

  • Use the exact RATESHOP method name you created in Settings > Rate Shop (e.g. “Ground Methods”, “Priority Options”). If you’re not sure of the name, ask the agent: “What rateshop methods do I have?”
  • Be specific about what to do with the result — just rate-quoting, or also applying the winner? Also routing to a queue?
  • You can filter which orders to process — by marketplace, by tag, by date range, etc.: “Rate shop all Amazon orders from today”
  • For one-off orders, just reference the order ID: “Rate shop order XYZ-789 using Ground Methods”

What Else Can the Agent Do?

Beyond rate shopping, the agent can help with many Teapplix tasks. Here are some examples:

  • Look up order details — “What’s the address on order ABC-123?”
  • Update orders — “Tag all orders from Amazon with ‘priority’”
  • Check inventory — “How many units of SKU WIDGET-01 are in stock?”
  • Generate packing lists — “Create a packing list for order ABC-123”
  • Manage shipping profiles — “List my shipping profiles”
  • Purchase labels — “Buy a UPS Ground label for order ABC-123 using profile 1”
